Integrate Memberful with MailerLite

MailerLite is an email marketing tool that integrates with Memberful. If you want to offer your audience a members-only email newsletter so you can share valuable information and drive revenue for your business—you’re in the right place! Integrate MailerLite

Navigate to Content → Email marketing from your Memberful dashboard, and click Connect below MailerLite. You’ll be asked to enter the API key. To get the API key, navigate to Integrations → MailerLite API → Use → Generate new token in your MailerLite account, enter a name for your token, and then click Create token. When you first connect to MailerLite, we’ll import all members to a group named Memberful. Then, we’ll automatically keep your subscriber list in sync by adding new members and updating existing members. We will not remove members from your subscriber list if their subscription expires. If the member’s subscription expires, the related Memberful field will be removed from their profile. In addition, if a member changes their email, we’ll add the new email as a new subscriber, and remove the Memberful fields from the old email.

Send a targeted campaign

To send a targeted campaign click Create campaign within your MailerLite account, and select the campaign type, enter your campaign details, then click Save and continue. Enter the required criteria for your campaign including the subject, sender name, sender email (needs to be verified if you haven’t used it before), tracking options, and a language. Click Next: Review to advance to the next page. Here you can choose how you want to edit your new campaign email. Options include Drag & drop editor, Rich-text editor, and if you’re a paying user, Custom HTML editor. With your design and content ready to send you can then select the appropriate recipients. Here you should see a list of options including All active subscribers, Active Segment, and Memberful (Group). Read more about the difference between segments and groups. Checking either Active Segment or Memberful allows you to send targeted emails to your members. Finally, clicking Next: Review presents an overview of your campaign that is ready to review and send.

(Optional) Add a referral link to your campaign

If you’ve enabled our Memberful referral program, you’ll be able to add a referral link to your campaign so members earn rewards for referring others. Select the “X” Variable option in your MailerLite editor. Then select the Memberful referral link variable

Use custom field answers for segmentation and personalization

You can collect up to 5 custom fields with Memberful right after your members complete the checkout form. Fields with pre-defined options (checkbox and dropdown) are perfect for segmenting subscribers in MailerLite—you could ask where they consume your content or what benefits they’re interested in. Fields with free-form answers (text and comment) are great for personalizing email campaigns with things like nicknames, Discord/social handles, etc. All answers show up as subscriber fields in MailerLite: You can use the pre-defined options (checkbox and dropdown) to build custom segments: You can also use the free-form answers to personalize emails:

View subscriber stats

In MailerLite you can view individual subscriber details. With the Memberful integration enabled you can see more details about a given subscriber who is or has been a member of yours. We keep track of active subscriptions, sign up sources, and the general status of the MailerLite subscription based on a member’s individual settings.
